The High Sierras feature John Montague with two exciting guitarist Martin Burch and Pete Turnpenney.
The High Sierras are hard to categories as they play a wide range original and interesting cover arrangements with a Country Roots and Blues style and feel.

Singer Songwriter & Music Producer John Montague has worked tirelessly for over 30 years as a musician and promoter of Live Music. He is currently involved with running both Grantham Guildhall Mayfest and Stamford Guitar Festivals. John also runs Acoustic Music Clubs helping to promote Music & Musicians and Artists.
He has played with, promoted and supported many artists including Tom Paxton, Ralph McTell, Paul Jones & Dave Kelly, Bob Cheevers, Charlie White, Dave Cartwright, Diane Ponzio (Martin Guitars) Jaques Stotzem ,Tim Rose, John Mayall and many more. John was the founder member of 90’s band Dr Bobs Acoustic Roots n Blues . John recorded his album Horton Avenue in Nashville TN January 2007 and The High Sierras are currently recording there second Album.
Martin Burch
Martin was born in the sixties and was introduced to music at a very early age. He started playing guitar professionally and performing during the 80’s influenced by musicians like Rory Gallagher and Eric Clapton.
Martin is a well respected Lead and Slide Guitar player with his much loved Fender Stratocasters and Martin Acoustic Guitars he has toured both the UK & USA and has played with and supported the likes of Tony McPhee, Stan Webb, Rory Mcleod, Sally Barker, Snowy White, Mick Pini, Dr Feelgood, Bob Cheevers and many more not forgetting John Montague who enticed Martin back into playing Live again two years ago.
Quiet man Martin just lets the guitar do all the talking.
Pete Turnpenney
Peter is known back home as a bit of a guitar wizard with his unique Magnatone Singer Deluxe Guitar. (Hand Made and the Only One in the World)
He took up playing musical instruments in 1969 with Mandolin, Guitar and then the Cello. But only the Guitar lasted.
Peter was a full time session musician both in Studios and UK Theatres throughout the 70’s & 80’s. Playing and performing with many Artists.
Peter has always had a passion in both performance and the development of Progressive Rock & Jazz and a real love for Country Music.
John and Peter have been close friends and played music together for almost 30 years.
